We're All Therapists!

Whether we like it or not, we're all therapists. We provide support and intervention to our friends, family, co-workers, those we interact with each day. If we teach, we provide counsel to students. Bartenders and hair stylists have played a critical role in the field since the beginning of time. Wanted or not, we're all therapists.

But where do we learn how to cope? Our parents? Were they happy people? Did they seem to manage life with relative ease? Fabulous. If we grew up with parents who made mental health a priority, we're well fortified with valuable insights worth sharing. If we weren't so fortunate and our family of origin was a messy ordeal, our advice might be more haphazard and although well-meaning, it could use a little spit and polish.

The Emotional Health Practitioner Program is a part time 22-week (class) offering that runs throughout the academic year from September to April. We've taught this program for 25 years, but always for professional development. If these past two years have taught us anything, it's that we could all use some additional skills and tools in the mental health department. What will we cover? We will address ADHD Strategies, Anger Management, Anxiety Treatment, Depression Treatment, Family Counselling, Grief Counselling, Parenting Support, Relationship Counselling and Trauma Treatment.

We have opened up the program to provide three streams. The first is professional development with a paid practicum, and this is how our program has run since 1997. There are very limited spots for this stream with an interview, references and a rigorous application process.

The second stream is also for professional development, while counsellors, psychotherapists, nurses, teachers and health care professionals look for additional skills to support their existing career, but without the practical application in our offices. These students are looking to increase their skills and knowledge-base in neuroscience and interpersonal skill-building to support what they're already doing in the field.

And finally, the third stream for personal development. In the personal development stream we are wanting to fortify your informal role as therapist in your day-to-day life as a parent, friend, co-worker and fellow human on the planet. Any which way, we're a little biased. We believe that there is a great need to teach the skills and science of health and happiness. Whether we're offering our best to those we love or diving headfirst into the helping profession, we need resources. Neural Network Therapy® provides simple but practical ways in which to boost mood, break unwanted patterns and balance life.
